Gutter guards in Pittsburgh.

Gutter guards only work when the gutter line is sound first. We check slope, hangers, fascia, roof valleys, and tree cover before recommending a guard. Most installs use Alu-Rex because it fits Pittsburgh rain, snow, and leaf load well.

Our usual guard system

Alu-Rex, installed only after the gutter line checks out.

Alu-Rex is the guard system we use most because it gives us clean options for new gutters, existing gutters, and reinforced gutter runs. The important part is the inspection first: if the gutter is loose, undersized, or pitched wrong, a guard will not fix that by itself.

What matters

The guard is only one part of the system.

Slope and downspouts

Water has to move fast enough to leave the gutter. We check pitch, outlet size, and where each downspout dumps.

Fascia and hangers

If the gutter is pulling away or the fascia is soft, we fix the support before covering the top.

Trees and roof valleys

Leaves, pine needles, roof grit, and steep valleys all change which guard setup makes sense.

Roof + gutter bundles

Best time to add guards: when the roof or gutters are already being done.

If we are already replacing the roof or installing new gutters, adding guards is cleaner, faster, and easier to price accurately.

What we check

What we look at before we price.

The page stays simple because the quote does the detail work. These are the main things we look at before recommending a scope.

Inspect gutter slope, hangers, fascia, downspouts, and roof valleys
Clean out the gutter before any guard goes on
Install the right Alu-Rex option for new or existing gutters
Cut and secure the guard to fit your 5" or 6" K-style gutter profile
Water-flow test the downspouts before we leave
How it works

Three steps.

STEP 01

Check the gutter line

We look at tree cover, roof valleys, gutter size, slope, fascia condition, and downspout placement.

STEP 02

Quote the right setup

Existing gutters may only need a retrofit guard. Weak or undersized gutters may need replacement first.

STEP 03

Install and test

Most homes finish in one day. Gutters cleaned, guards installed, downspouts tested, paperwork handled.

Gutter Guards FAQ

Common questions.

What gutter guards do you install?
Most Hawkeye gutter guard installs use Alu-Rex. It gives us options for new gutters, existing gutters, and reinforcement when the gutter line needs more strength.
Do I need new gutters first?
Not always. If your 5" or 6" K-style aluminum gutters are straight, secure, and draining well, a retrofit guard can make sense. If they are sagging, rusted, or undersized, we will recommend fixing the gutter system first.
Will gutter guards mean I never clean gutters again?
No exterior product makes a house maintenance-free forever. The goal is to stop packed leaves and debris from clogging the gutter so water keeps moving.
Are gutter guards worth it if I do not have trees?
Often no. They make the most sense around mature trees, steep valleys, heavy roof grit, or homes where ladder work is a safety issue.
Can gutter guards be bundled with a roof replacement?
Yes. That is usually the cleanest time to do it because the crew is already there and the roof edge is being worked on anyway.
