Common questions.

How much does a new roof cost in Pittsburgh?
The number depends on roof size, pitch, access, decking condition, ventilation, flashing, material, and cleanup requirements. We give a written quote based on the actual scope so you can see what drives the number.
How long will my roof last?
In our climate, a properly installed architectural shingle roof should give you decades of useful life. Ventilation, flashing, decking, and cleanup matter as much as the shingle brand.
What brands do you install?
We commonly install architectural shingles from Owens Corning, GAF, CertainTeed, and IKO. If you have a specific manufacturer or shingle line in mind, include it with your quote request.
Do you install metal roofs?
We mostly install architectural asphalt because it fits most Pittsburgh homes. If you want metal (standing seam, stone-coated, or exposed-fastener), say so on your quote request and we'll spec it.
Do you handle insurance claims?
Yes - extensively. We document visible damage, meet your adjuster on-site when needed, and help supplement the claim if legitimate scope items are missed. See our /insurance-restoration page for the full process.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
Material warranties come from the manufacturer and vary by product. Hawkeye provides a 1-year workmanship warranty. The written quote will spell out the product and warranty terms before you approve the work.
Do I need to be home during install?
No. We do need access to a power outlet and a place to park the dumpster. We'll text you photos at the start and end of each day so you know what's happening.
What about my landscaping and driveway?
We tarp shrubs and AC units, lay plywood over delicate paving, and do a magnetic sweep at the end to pull every nail. If we damage anything, we fix it - written into the contract.
Can you work in winter?
Yes, down to about 40°F. Below that, asphalt shingles won't seal properly and we wait for a warm stretch. We do not install roofs in active rain or snow.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family Pittsburgh homes are 1-2 working days for tear-off + install, weather permitting. We don't leave a roof open overnight - if weather threatens, we tarp at end of day and resume in the morning.
